Please save the date for the 2019 Great Lakes Day Congressional Breakfast, to be held Thursday, March 7, 2019, in Washington, D.C.
The annual Great Lakes Day Congressional Breakfast will feature dialogue on Great Lakes priorities by regional leaders and members of Congress who play a critical role in shaping Great Lakes policies.
Please note that the 2019 Great Lakes Commission Semiannual Meeting will be held separately in the Great Lakes Basin. More information about the Semiannual Meeting will be available in 2019.
This year, the 2019 Lake Erie Conference includes a panel discussion on reducing nutrient loading, a presentation on plastics in the Great Lakes, and also a presentation on reintroducing sturgeon in Lake Erie's rivers.

Want to learn more about marine debris and plastic pollution in the Great Lakes? Curious about what educational resources are available? Join us for a one hour webinar on April 3, 2019 at 3:30pm EST. Experts will be sharing up-to-date information on the problem and presenting resources that can be used in the classroom or at other venues! This is open to all formal and informal educators and lessons will be geared towards 5-9th grade audience. All lessons are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards. Ohio Sea Grant and NOAA Marine Debris Program will have an outreach booth as part of Cedar Point Amusement Park's event in Sandusky, OH. The event runs 5/13 through 5/17. Come visit us on the midway!
The 2019 Emerging Contaminants in the Environment Conference (ECEC19) will be held on May 21-22, 2019, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign, IL. This year the conference will expand beyond the aquatic environment to also include air and soil studies along with effects on human and animal health.
The conference will feature presentations and posters on the latest in emerging contaminant research, policies, and outreach. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and networking with those interested in all aspects of emerging contaminants in the environment.
Researchers, educators, businesses, government officials, regulatory agencies, policy makers, outreach and extension professionals, environmental groups, members of the general public, and medical, veterinary, and public health professionals are encouraged to attend the conference.
Fellow researchers from around the world will gather in Brockport, New York, on the shores of the Erie Canal for IAGLR's 62nd annual Conference on Great Lakes Research. Hosted by The College at Brockport, State University of New York, the conference will feature four days of scientific sessions and speakers focusing on our theme Large Lakes Research: Connecting People and Ideas. Mark your calendars for June 10-14, 2019. There will be a marine debris session titled, "Microplastics in freshwater systems: Advances in chemistry, biology and physics."
